DROOOM

DROOOM is about two free-spirited musicians. They write music without restriction or following any rules, giving their imaginations full rein.

John Winckel and Georgina Winckel were born in The Hague, Netherlands. While they were growing up the kitchen was their home studio, and was well equipped with drums, a piano and a guitar. There was always music in the house. After High School they both knew they had to make music a career choice, though eventually they chose different music schools, Gia went to the Rock Academy and John to an Audio Engineering School, the SAE in Amsterdam.

Georgina took the artist name ‘Gia Mellish’ and as an singer/songwriter has released many house records on labels such as Ministry of Sound, Hed Kendi, and with many producers including Sébastien Léger and Alan Braxe. She has perfomed in clubs all over the world.

John started producing pop tracks and always kept his guitar as the main element in his music. Gia moved to London in 2009 to work with different producers and started a DJ career, singing and DJ-ing simultaneously, which added an extra dimension to her music repertoire.
Still, she missed an authentic aspect in her music, and so finally after years of writing and working with producers, John and Gia decided to combine forces and get back to the songwriting they enjoyed so much when they were young, but now adding electronic beats and sounds to their music.

They choose the name DROOOM which comes from the Dutch word Droom, meaning dream. DROOOM is about two free-spirited musicians. They write music without restriction or following any rules, giving their imaginations full rein. Their music can best be described as an eclectic mix of flamboyant pop with heavily filtered acoustic beats, coupled with guitars, and endless fantasy.

DROOOM muziek is een eclectische mix van flamboyante pop met zwaar gefilterd akoestische beats, in combinatie met gitaren, en eindeloze fantasie.

DROOOM bestaat uit twee muzikanten met een vrije geest. Ze schrijven muziek zonder regels of beperkingen en kunnen hun verbeelding de vrije loop laten. De naam DROOOM is afkomstig van het Nederlandse woord ‘droom’.

John en Gia zijn geboren in Den Haag, Nederland. Terwijl ze opgroeiden was de keuken hun home studio, en het was uitgerust met drums, een piano en een gitaar. Er was altijd muziek in huis. Na de middelbare school wisten ze beiden dat ze van muziek een carrière wilden maken. Gia ging naar de Rock Academie en John naar een Audio Engineering School, de SAE in Amsterdam.

Gia nam de naam van de artiest ‘Gia Mellish’ en heeft als een singer / songwriter veel house platen op labels als Ministry of Sound en Hed Kendi uitgebracht en met vele producenten gewerkt, waaronder Sebastien Leger en Alan Braxe. Ze heeft in clubs over de hele wereld opgetreden. John begon met het produceren van pop tracks en gebruikt zijn gitaar vaak als belangrijke toevoeging in zijn muziek.

Gia verhuisde naar Londen in 2009 om te werken met verschillende producenten en begon een carrière als DJ / zangeres, wat een extra dimensie toevoegde aan haar muziek repertoire. Toch miste ze een authentiek aspect in haar muziek, en uiteindelijk na jaren apart van haar broer muziek te hebben geschreven en gewerkt te werken met verschillende producenten, besloten John en Gia hun krachten te bundelen. Ze keerden terug naar de songwriting zoals zij die genoten toen ze jong waren, maar nu met de toevoeging van elektronische beats en sounds aan hun muziek.
